Yesterday on Monday 16th April, I played another game for my club - the penultimate game of the season - and unfortunately things didn't go according to plan...
My opponent was an ungraded player so I didn't know what to expect, I think I took too many risks during the game - although calculated risks, I missed some strong replys by my opponent which I wouldn't normally miss, the venue was loud for a start and very cramped - not ideal chess playing conditions but hey - I made my own mistakes... and blunders - and this game shows me playing well below my normal standard...
After 27.Ne4?? the game was over, but I wanted to play it out and hope for drawing chances in the rook+pawns endgame which I have managed to pull off many times!
I later found out my opponent used to be graded 128 ECF (1674 FIDE) just a few years ago and this is his first season back as an active player...
But - I have a chance to end the season on a win - next week
