Hexes Chess

Hexes Chess is a relatively new commercial variant of hexagonal chess.  It is similar in many ways to the more famous Glinski's Hexagonal Chess, but what attracted me to it was the smaller board and higher piece density.  The battle gets going very quickly.  And you need to watch out for some quick smother mates via the long-range knights.

The components are pretty nice.  The pieces are just the standard "club special", but the set comes with a good roll-up board, drawstring bags, and even a carrying case.

    There are three bishops, each one starting on a different color.  As in standard chess, a bishop cannot leave its color.
