Live chess today: dramatic draw!

This is not my first live chess, but I like to share this one with you.

I'm just a beginner of chess but what's special of me is that I am quite good at Chinese chess. So I can calculate in the similar way, that makes me do better in Chess 960. But sometimes the difference between rules also leads me to a wrong calculation. And my weakness lays in the lack of sense of good positions.

I didn't play standard much yet because I didn't learn any kind of opening well yet. Last night I read some opening beginning with e4 e5 so I try to do this today.

My opponent didn't use the normal strategy so I had to fight by myself from very early time.

The finish is dramatic, I can't stop being checked all the time...

After all, I enjoyed this game.

If anyone wants to play with me, I'm really willing to be challenged. What's more, it would be very kind of you if you can teach me something about openings and the sense of good positions.

Have a nice day guys!

    Thank you David.

    - on move 18, do you mean Rhf8 is better?

    - on move 26, I now see the chance to checkmate.

and thanks to the advice of endgames.Smile

hi, a few pieces of advice:

    - you made several good decisions showing "sense of good positions:" transferring the queen to b6 to aim at the weak bpawns of white, defend a7, and control the b6-g1 diagonal of white; castling queenside; and playing 13...f5 to trade off your weak pawn and begin opening lines for your bishops (compared to his knights, it is important to trade pawns to open the diagonals on the board so your bishops can show their power).

    - on move 18, your trade is no good. his knight is not that strong, and you let his rook on h1 out. what do you think the best move for you would have been instead?

    - on move 26 you had a chance to checkmate.

    - on move 29 you could win by playing Qd4 or Qe3 instead of advancing your c pawn. then your queen can dominate. one principle of endgames with queens is that centralizing the queen is very powerful! (this can often prevent the other queen from using a lot of squares).
