The Road to 1400: Second Chances

Game Summary: The Philidor is back and hungry for blood. The question to be agressive or passive arises. WWJD?

Second chances are great. Imagine being able to go back to before you biblically got to know her sister and this time you remembered to lock the door. Well maybe thats a redo and not so much a second chance. How about... Imagine her sister coming back over after the the yelling and screaming was done. Yea, that's closer. Sadly for me the sister just so happens to be a dead frenchman.

As fate would have, the Good Lord has read my blog and seen it fit to grant me another shot at the Philidor.  I picture it in an almost John Wayne tone with the sum total equalling some form of redemption being offered. No pressure?

Either way, we head right into the opening...

Now we have reached a desicion. Do I try to compile an attack as I am out of theory or do we castle and continue to develop. Theory dictates you castle here and continue to develop. I sat here and knew I should castle but I couldn't shrug off the John Wayne deep with in me, telling me to throw a haymaker at 'em.

And so I give away my chance at redemption. To refer back to the sister analogy, imagine she came back over and you whipped out a video camera, 50 shades of grey and insisted upon making a movie based off the book. Seemed like a good idea at the time but your the only one getting hurt in the end.

And so went the game. down a few points and staring down 91 points....

Lessons Learned:

1. Being aggressive is good but too aggressive will leave you battered and bruised.

2.  Keep your cool even if faced with a betrayed loved one.(Like Shaggy said, "It wasn't me."

3.  If you know center will be open, castle as soon as you can.

4. An interesting line that comes with this version of philidor is...
