Knight 'forks'

With the knight, you can do something called a 'fork'. A fork is when you either: A: Put the king in check, forcing him to give up a piece, or B: When you put two pieces in peril of being captured, forcing the piece thats worth more to go away, and you get the other victim piece. Look out for ways that you can use a fork against your opponent, because you may end up with a queen or two in some games.

Several years back there were those who wanted to give the queen the same power a knight has to jump and fork.  I, for one, am glad that never was accepted, because then the knight could never fork the king and queen.  That is one reason why the Knight is often called: The Joker of the Chessboard.
