Etienne Bacrot, born Jan 22, 1983, was the youngest FIDE master at age 10. He began playing chess at the age of 4.  He won the World under 12 championship in Brazil in 1995.  In 1995, he was awarded the International Master title at the age of 12.  In March 1997, Bacrot become the youngest Grandmaster in history at the age of 14 years and 2 months (since eclipsed by Ruslan Ponomariov).   He won the French championship in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2008.  His highest Elo rating was 2731 (9th best player in the world).
