chessboard

Last updated on Sat, 07/18/2009 at 10:25am.

A chessboard starts with the following:

in the first line: pawns, in the second line : the king, the queen, the bishops, the knights and the rooks.

At the end of the game, the pieces can do checkmate the enemy king. This is when the king is in check and can't move anywhere else because the flight squares are attacked by other pieces.

This picture is the standard opening position.

Fool's Mate.
