A Graphical User Interface (GUI; pronouced "Gooey" or "Jee-you-eye") allows a human to interact with a computer by means of a graphical screen display in lieu of a console based interface.

A chess GUI is a graphical representation of the chessboard, enabling the moves of a game to be shown in a convenient visual form for a human to understand.
