Ron Henley is an American Grandmaster (1982) from Houston, Texas.  He is the only American selected as a second to a Soviet player.  He served as second to Anatoly Karpov in the 1990 World Championship match.  He was Karpov’s chief trainer for 6 years.  He has been a member of the American Stock Exchange since 1985.  He won the Texas state championship in 1975 and 1976.
