The Hong Kong Chess Federation formed in 1960 and joined FIDE in 1961.  The Hong Kong team in the 1974 Students' Chess Olympiad consisted of five brothers aged 8 to 18.  In 1990 the Hong Kong Olympiad team consisted of four players from four different countries.
