Hopkins Gambit

The Hopkins Gambit is a variant of the Ruy Lopez. Experimented with during the late 19th century, the Gambit is not generally accepted and is rarely seen in modern competition. It is named after Richard Hopkins, an amateur player who is first known to have played the Gambit in tournament play.

    It's not a true gambit, but the people who first named it called it the Hopkins Gambit and so that's what its called  i guess
