Lemibt Oll was born in April 23, 1966 in Hohtla-Jarve, Estonia. In 1982, he was chess champion of Estonia. In 1983, he was awarded the International Master title. In 1984, he was junior champion of the USSR. From 1992 through 1998, he played for Estonia four times in the Chess Olympiads. In 1992, he was awarded the Grandmaster title. On 1994, he tied for 1st place with Jaan Ehlvest at the New York Open. In 1998, his Elo rating was 2655 and the top player in Estonia. He played in his last tournament at Nova Gorica in 1999, tieing for 2nd place behind GM Kozul. Around 4:30 am on May 17, 1999, at the age of 33, he committed suicide by jumping from his 5th story apartment in Tallinn, Estonia. He fell into severe depression after he divorced and was separated from his two sons. At the time of his death, he was rated 2630, #42 in the world. He is buried in the same graveyard where Paul Keres is buried.
