Sicilian Najdorf

Last updated on Wed, 07/20/2011 at 12:13am.

The Najdorf Variation belongs to the Sicilian Defence family of openings and is the sharpest and most analysed opening of chess. Many famous World Champions have extensively used this opening, including Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov.

I always have practiced the Najdorf defense with very good results, but this variant I never have played. The Najdorf is very ambicious defense, when it is necessary to win there is nothing better than the Najdorf.

I want to add something I forgot to write, I recommend to all that like the Najdorf, to check the games of the G.M. Robert J. Fischer , I learned to play the Najdorf by styding how he played it.

I think that in this game, Kasparov uses Najdorf and Dragon Variation in a combination to attain great offensive and defensive flexibility.

@kinderkakke: I don't think any openings with "white always has an advantage..." Najdorf is really a good choice for black and the most important is to know the poisitions of your pieces depending on how White plays at the next move: 6.Be3 or 6.Be2 or 6.Bg5 or 6.Bc4 or 6.f4 or 6.h3. That the main variations of Najdorf and Black needs to well prepare for that! By the way, I am a fan of Najdorf!
