"We are now open all year long, including during the summer. We are open on Tuesday nights from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Every Tuesday night there are players playing casual games. We usually use chess clocks to ensure the pace or speed of the game. Although the serious game may take two hours or more, we also play fast 5 minute games in which make you move fast … or lose by time! Sometimes, we have tournaments which most people in the club join. These tournaments are sometimes 5 minute sudden death, 30 minute sudden death or 90 minute sudden death. For more information, drop in to our club for an evening or call Barry at 905-846-8467.

Yearly membership:

$50 for regular members

$30 for ladies and seniors (65+)

$25 for full time students."

Hey, sometimes I drop by there, just to see whats goin' on, and some of the guys are real good. Barry's a cool guy and its low stress to just go and hang out with these guys. My issue is that I actually want to start going to tournaments around the GTA and playing competetively, so if anyone knows where to do that, im open for suggestions. Thanks.

Does anyone know of any clubs in the GTA itself, this one is a tad too far. This is for my younger brother actually, he is 11 and interested in getting to know more than just how pieces move.

I'm sure there's a local chess club in Toronto... did you try googling it? There's even one in Ottawa, though I've never been.

This club is awesome, I joined it and I'm an official member now, its an awesome place to play chess and I encourage many to join it, though that means less probability of me winning the tournaments than, hehe. But here we only play, there are no lessons, does anyone know a chess club near toronto, brampton or mississauga that offers a club with lessons, I really need it. Thanks!
