The group started in 2005 (if I'm not mistaken) as a weekly blitz meetup group and still continues to meet for blitz games in the Tea Lounge every Friday night at 7pm. As the membership and involvement grew, we came up with an idea of putting together a team to compete in the slow chess league, and in our initial season we took the second place in our division in the Commercial Chess League in Manhattan. We get together to study chess theory and analyze games, usually in the nearby friendly chess shop at Flatbush Ave. All new members are welcome, whether for casual Friday blitzes or more serious classical chess league competition.
