It is quite a commute between Los Angeles and Rooty Hill, but if I am ever in the location expect a labor intense chess match.

Yep, everybody welcome.  They're just about to start the annual Club Championship so if you get along there one Monday soon they'll slot you in.  (If you miss the first round or two they'll credit you with a half point bye for each game you miss.)

I'd get there well before 7.30, though.  If you're there by 7.10 it gives them time to put you in the draw for whatever is happening that night.  Just ask for Peter.  Everybody knows him.

You'll find some club photos here:

PLEASE NOTE:

Although the Rooty Hill CC website was down for several weeks due to transferring to a new ISP, it went back on line on October 17.

You'd enjoy it, kad.  We probably have more Pinoys that any other club in Oz.

Rooty Hill is the friendliest club around. Peter Cassetari(Club manager and winner of the Koshnitsky Medal) is always ready to help newcomers. The club created a state junior champion (Rishi Dutta) and also state U1600 Champion(Mohamed Buza). It has players ranging from 1200-2200. It is the best club.

Hi Superishi, You're right. It's a very friendly club.

I see that you're playing in the club championship this week. Watch out for Stefan Jovanovic and Gojko Trjin in your section. They're both much stronger than their current ratings.

While I was at the Hill I shared first place in the U1600 section of the NSW Open (with Norm Greenwood) and shared first in the City of Sydney U1700 with Herman Rachmadi.

You might be interested in some club games I posted to my web page at this link:  http://users.tpg.com.au/adslpu7j/chess/sweetsour.html The second game was an extraordinary draw by our webmaster Robert Ambalong (who is now back in the Philippines). Robert is also the guy who wrote the software for ChessGenie, which has been plagiarised and is used widely in chess blogs.

And although it's been a few months now, welcome to chess.com. Where in Sydney do you live?
