other than that, there are chess club meetings in one of the vally stream community centers, also you might want to check out the long Island Chess club all the way in nasseau county and unfortunatelly none in riverhead (I've looked, as I was born and raised there).

Attention all Chessplayers interested in finding chess in Stonybrook! We have a strong club of tournament and intermediate players whom meet at the border books cafe every Tuesday night and Saturday night. Border bookstore is on Route 347 facing the Smithhaven mall. Some of us have actually played at the university when the club used to meet on Thursday nights.
