About Me:

I am a long time chess coach in Maryland, but I lived in New Jersey for my first 25 years.  My approach to chess coaching is to improve your chess skills (like every other coach), but I also emphasize improving your chess mindset, that is, thinking like a winner, not being fearful while playing, being alert, maximizing the opportunities in your position.  I believe you can significantly improve your chess results simply by improving your attitude during the game and by focused study of chess skills.

Hi Bruce.

I just clicked the link to your website and it seems to be an advert for a weight loss program in Chinese!

I Googled your name and got the same result.

Just thought you might like to know!

Born in 1949.  My father taught me chess when I was six.  Have studied chess off and on since that time; but only now, in retirement, do I have the time to devote to it.  I am only interested in studying chess endings as they are the foundation of positional chessplay; the rest of it can wait (with age comes patience).  What can you do for me?  A brief comment will suffice to let me know.  I have no desire to do anything more than to learn how to solve the riddles of chess and peer into the essence of the game I'd love to study in a serious vein.  I'm convinced that chess is a language of some kind.
