About Me:

I don't have time to teach many lessons right now. If you would like lessons, I suggest you try one of these fine teachers:

http://www.chess.com/members/view/AlexYermo

http://www.chess.com/members/view/gmmelik

http://www.chess.com/members/view/EugenePerelshteyn

I love chess! my specialties include:

opening principles; teaching beginners the fundamental principles of the game; sharp, complex games; King's Gambit, Najdorf Sicilian, Benoni, French; and diagnosing a player's strengths and weaknesses.

If you weren't put off by my high prices or the claim that I don't want to teach many lessons, and you think you might be one of the two or three special people I'd make time to teach, then go ahead and send me a message :-)

Your twitter profile states that you're an anticapitalist, but your outrageous prices speak otherwise. Tongue Out

Haha.  Right.  Maybe since your anti capitalist we should let Obama decide how much you charge for lessons.

hahaha :-) those are "i don't really want to teach lessons right now" prices Tongue Out

i actually teach my only current private student at a rate of $0/hour, because i'm not a capitalist. and with this student, i feel it's very much worth my time :-)

that said, i think there are plenty of anti-capitalists who find it most expedient to use currency on a day-to-day basis, and thus charge for their services and products. i'm happy to discuss, but i don't know if this is the place.

have you watched my opening videos, for example http://www.chess.com/video/player/every-chess-opening-the-first-move

and then the next two vids in that series. or the series on development? i think you should continue trying to understand the meanings behind moves, their strengths and weaknesses, rather than trying to memorize some theoretical moves.

that works out perfectly then, since i did not want to give you private lessons. the point of this profile is to forward people who want lessons with me to the other teachers I've listed, since I don't have time for privates myself, but get lots and lots of requests.

considering most grandmasters dont charge that much on here for lessons, 120 dollars an hour is simply ridiculous.  I like your videos, but I wouldn't in my right mind pay that much for a lesson.

if you want free chess instruction check out the articles and blogs on here. i don't do private lessons anymore because my lessons on chess.com reach a much larger audience.

but it's nice to hear from someone in Btown, maybe we'll see each other some time and play a game.

Carl, are you happy to lose extra games in addition to winning more? the Orthodox is a perfectly decently scoring option for black. for your style, the king's indian defense would be my recommendation (that'll give you more wins and more losses); gruenfeld is my second suggestion.

    David,

What is Black's response with the greatest winning chances (maybe also most aggressive) against d4? My orthodox QGD seems to be drawish.

Is it 120 dollers a lesson ( the one hour private lessons online ) or does the price cover more than one lesson?
