Elliott is a fantastic coach.  My son has been working with him for months, and during that time has become a much stronger player: improving his understanding and love of the game, and his USCF rating.  Elliott seems to have a rather unique ability to identify one's specific weaknesses, and is able to offer detailed explanations and recommended strategies that both make sense and work... he's truly brilliant.  Thank you, Elliott!

I use a combination of skype and chess.com.  It's the next best thing besides face-to-face.

Elliott ROCKS. Not only is he loaded with chess info., he also has a very deep understanding of the concepts of playing good chess and is able to articulate that in the lessons.  I can't speak highly enough about him. If you want to improve your game,if you want to better understand the game of chess then I can't think of a reason that you would not take lessons from him. dan

Who better to analyze your games than the host of "Your Games Analyzed" here on chess.com?  Seriously, each lesson with Elliott was great.  He tailored the lessons to topics I wanted to go over and when a lesson was finished I had all of my questions answered.  I started studying chess less than a year ago and each lesson with FM Liu added about 100 points to my rating on the chess.com servers.  Elliott gives clear explanations and he is very patient and understanding.  Best of all, he gave targeted direction as to what I should be working on between lessons to improve my game.  Highly recommended!

Elliott, has coached our son for about 7 months now.  Elliott is a very good teacher.  He is patient, insightful, and very knowledgeable.  He has helped our son greatly with his openings and tactics.  Our son's rating, his confidence and his love of the game has gone up under Elliott's tutelage.  We strongly recommend Elliott as a coach.   JCTeam10 's mom Smile

    Good morning,

I am getting back into chess...I've had to take a break due to work(about four years).  My schedule should allow an concerted effort to improve my game.  At my last tournament, I was around the 1150 range...I do not remember.  I would like to incrimentally improve my game.  What would you recommend for next steps?
