I submitted three games for analysis, like corrsepondance (or turned based coaching).  Master Puloj was always quick to respond to questions, polite in his analysis, and funny.  i have never laughed after getting a computer analysis.  granted, he is the only coach i have used, but i will continue to use him for future coaching needs.  He even has continued to answer questions after his service was complete.

for those that think "i don't need to pay for an analysis when i can get computer analyses for free"; the files i got back are so much more helpful than any computer could have done.  Unlike a computer analysis you not only get the moves that were good or bad (and occasionally ugly) you also get a discussion.  this way, i not only know what moves were bad, but why.  i am sure this will help me fix them.

another huge benefit is that looking at three games he has pointed out general problems.  for me, i need to learn how to play with pawns and stop playing so defensively (among other things, i am sure he just didn't want to totally overwhelm me).  that way, i can take these ideas and target my practice either through chess mentor or through further lessons.

On Chess.com, Carlos agreed to analyze one of my games if I corrected his English in one of his articles. His analysis was very helpful.

I had my first session today and it was also my first experience with the Chess.com site. He was patient with me trying to learn how to use the site (I.e. communicate in different ways). He then promptly kicked my butt all over the board as he learned my weaknesses in some cases emberrasingly sooner than I would have thought possible. I look forward to patching up my weaknesses with his guidance going forward. He was also interested in knowing what tactical books I study from which was beyond the scope of our session, which prooves his interest and dedication to the sport.

Carlos gave me the best lesson on Caro-Cann defense! I owe a few tournament points to him! I really enjoyed his simple yet comprehensive explanations of plans in the defense, and I was able to apply them right away. Very helpful, thank you!

Pujol was my chees trainer back in Cuba (90's) when I was a teeneger and he, just a little youger than me. I remember that he wanted me to improve my attack skills. He always said that I was too cautious and I needed to open my game and be more aggressive. I really appreciate all his advices and more than that his friendship. He is a good boy!

A great teacher if you desire to learn positional and tactical play. One of the main things I learned from Fide Master Carlos was the importance of positional play, and the importance of pawns in your game.  Not to say I have played against Carlos and others in 24 hour endurance blitz chess, and he was still strong 24 hours later, as if it was the first hour. This is a testament to his sound fundamentals, strength, and love for chess overall.

I've had some lessons with Carlos on how to handle the French Defense as white. He looked at my style of play and came up with a plan of attack. I've used my new found knowledge in several games now winning a few and losing a few, but I enjoyed the lessons immensely. I would recommend lessons with Carlos for anyone who wants to improve their play.
