I have been teaching chess to youth, teens, and adults internationally for over 5 years. Over the last few years, I have established myself as Chess.com's best-selling chess coach.
I am Director of Chess.com University and a Chess Mentor Author on Chess.com.
Recently, I have been inactive in over-the-board play but intend to get back into it soon and earn a chess title. I'm a former club chess club president as well as a certified USCF tournament director.
I currently teach chess to those rated between 0 and 1800 USCF/FIDE.
All of my students have improved visibly after taking lessons and following the training program presented to them.
So how do I teach?
I instruct using the analysis board in Chess.com’s live chess server along with Skype. I give lessons to students on various topics to improve their chess and often analyze students’ games to pinpoint common mistakes and explain improvements. Topics I teach to a given student depend on what his/her weaknesses and misconceptions are. I create a well-balanced lesson plan for regular students that is designed to improve all aspects of their chess. Additionally, I create opening repertoires for advanced students. If a given student wants to learn something specific, such as an opening or a defense, I will gladly teach that!
My hourly rate for chess coaching is $30 for new students.
Students who display dedication towards chess improvement receive additional material and thorough homework plan.
My style of teaching consists of using students’ games to enlighten, introducing new concepts and material, showing relevant examples, having students practice what they've learned against strong players, analyzing their games and then moving on to the next lesson! As a chess coach I’m flexible and versatile. I will teach the way the student wants to be taught!
If you have any questions, please contact me! I currently have 2 spots open for new students.
