Unfortunately it wont run on windows-above-98 - not on xp certainbly. [and it is a microsoft-windows/mac-only program].

the author ed schroeder has put up prodeo [w/ an even more powerful rebel-engine acc to schroeder] for free but you have to use it through arena or something - so you dont get rebel facilities like disallowing some moves [to see what is best except those moves]; analysing only a few moves [say you want to decide which of 2 moves is better: you dont want search  on all moves]. forward pruning can be skipped eg for endgames still - it is an engine option.
