I like stockfish the best because Glaurung was my choice for ages (level and style). Stockfish is really strong, probably the strongest free chess engine. Some people say that even stronger than rybka.
Thank you for the review and the match Deepgreene :)
Stockfish is based on Glaurung, which is written by Tord Romstad. The Stockfish branch was started by Marco Costalba during a period in which Tord was not doing computer chess. Tord later rejoined the team, together with Joona Kiiski. Since then, Stockfish has become the best open-source chess engine. Its strength is comparable to the commercial Rybka chess engine.

Good stuff! I just hosted a quick four-game tournament (with Exachess) pitting this against the multi-processor ('deep') version of Hiarcs 12.1:
stockfish: 2.5
Hiarcs: 1.5
Not bad, considering the price of the loser. :)
Does anyone know if stockfish 1.7 uses all available processors? I wasn't able to tell from the website.
EDIT: Think I just answered my own question; I found this in the description of an earlier version of stockfish: "This version of Stockfish supports up to 8 CPUs, but has not been tested thoroughly with more than 2." Sweet!
Thanks, Ousland!
