Very good book.  Wish I had gotten this book months ago.  Very good puzzles.  Chess for dummies is NOT helpful for beginners.

I just started reading this book and it seems like a better version of Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess.  While BFTC is good, this book gives you more problems and enough instruction to really be able to apply it.  Definitely a great place to start learning after you learn the basics.

Well done Susan.  Well done, Paul. Well done Zsuzsa.  outstanding book, covers many (or all) of the technical methods and tactical shots needed for a consistently improving skill and a steadily rising rating.

Although I haven't yet finished this book, it is part of my recommended reading list for serious students.

This book serves as a very good introduction on how to play chess. It starts off with how each piece moves. It then goes on two the basic tactics that you use in a chess game. Each tactic has its own section that briefly out lines how it works and then you have 20 problems to work though with solutions. The problems are the most important part of the book.

My Chess has been steadily improving since I have started working though the book. I would recommend this book for any one that has just been exposed to chess but wants to start getting better. It is well suited for a more mature reader.
