Yeah, everyone knows about Tal's reputation as a player, and  know exactly what they're going to get concerning his games. What makes this book a cut above the rest is his humour, passion, enthusiasm and honesty.

At one stage, after another operation, rumours spread that Tal had suffered his final 'defeat' and had passed away..........

The tournament about which I had been dreaming began in Tbilisi roughly a month after the operation and I played there with particular pleasure. I don't know whether this really happened, but later I was told that when I sacrificed my queen against Suetin, the following comment was made: 'not bad for a dead man, don't you think!'

Basically that's this book in a nut shell - queen sacrifices and funny anecdotes :)

This book is an excellent read. I picked up a lot of ideas from studying his games against Botvinnik.

I bought this book awhile ago, but haven't started reading it until recently. Believe me, I regret it. This is an amazing book. I believe this book really shows the reader how interesting the play of Tal is. I would give this book five stars, except for one thing- the binding is bad. I've had about 5 or 6 pages fall out. Has this happened to anyone else? Let me know.

4 stars.

This book is good for:

1. Learn about Tal's life and his relation to chess.

2. Improve your play reading a lot about attacking chess

3. Enjoy lots of sacrifices.

4. Know how chess proffesional players suffer and think over the board.

If you like Tal, this book is for you.
