A bit of a difficult read, since Hans Kmoch makes up names for concepts - and then employs the concepts in illustrations.  Some of the material is not found in other endgames books - making this essential to understand as part of your repetoire if you want to become an endings virtuoso.

I agree with Ret, everything is named and renamed. You get sentences that are constructed of 50% new terminology. You spend half the time trying to learn and have remembering the jargon. I actually gave up on this book, and found something that was less frustrating to read.

However, I'm lead to believe that if you can get through this book you'll learn a lot. But sadly for me this book was more of a chore than enjoyable.

I meant to give this book 2 and a half stars but lacked the dexterity to click the stars correctly :)

yes, the pawns are a big disaster for who cannot fix them, they can help you to mate or to make a promotion.

    I have a old noted (PK4-PK5) one. Is it a algebraic notation (e4-e5) ?

Very good book on basic pawn play, so far I have seen.

With studying this book we can learn more, what a powerful piece PAWN is.
