A good book for beginners and a bit helpful for amateurs but I love was the test at the end of the books since it was nice workout for calculating chess moves to create a tactic position and execute it.  Laughing

This is a great book on tactics. I like how each chapter focuses on a certain tactical theme, includes some diagrams and finally some puzzles to test what you have learned. The book also includes some games from some of the greatest tacticians in history. Seirawan is a grandmaster so you can trust his analysis.

Yasser Seirawan has a wonderful, easy-going style of writing that gives you the feeling he is sitting right across the board from you telling you about tactics.
