5 stars!  As I said in my review of the "regular" version, this is the best clock out there IMO.  This is the "touch switch" version, which some people like and some people don't like.  The reason one might not like it, is you cannot hit the button with the piece after you make a capture.  It needs the heat of your finger to actually register.  A lot of blitz players are touchy about that, but it's no big deal to me.  I have the touch version myself and I love it.  Also it doesn't have that loud clicking noise when you hit the button (but you can set it to beep).  Really, it's just personal preference between the 2 versions, and they are both great.

This was my third chess clock.  The first just could not stand up to the fun of rowdy blitz play, and broke within weeks.  This just keeps on ticking and ticking.  Me I went with bright yellow with black buttons.  Bright yellow so I can see it quickly in the room.   Black buttons, because really, blitz needs to be a bit noisy!

I found out about this wonderful chess timer from one of my friends. When I found out that I did not need to hit any buttons and levers and only touching the metal pad to indicate that my turn is over, i was truly amazed.

Tongue outLaughingThis is by far the most reliable clock out there. I've had many clocks all of which have had many pros and cons(like when I accidently drop it, it would break), but with this clock, there are no cons. If u throw it angainst the wall the wall would break, not the clock.  I have ordered 5 for my team and I was amazed with the reliable touch-pad/sensor. You should really get sample one of these clocks.Plus you save some money when u buy it from wholsale chess!!Money mouth

I have this clock and I love it. Since it makes zero noise (if you turn the beeps off) I wish everyone in a tournament hall used them. All the random clicking in a big tournament can be annoying when you're in a tight spot.

if you only go to clubs and do blitz games they have a smaller version with buttons that I would say is better suited for that scene.

I own both the push button and touch button models of the Chronos II and I love both of them.  Personally I favor the touch button because it is just so cool and slightly freaks people out.  If you are used to something clicking or moving, the touch buttons may take a little time to get used to, especially those ocd players that have to press their buttons 5 or 6 times...just to make sure.

The Chronos also has some nice Go settings with byoyomi...which you can also use when playing chess...if you dare.

The only thing the Chronos doesn't have is "count up at the end of count down" for that crazy timing system they have in Scrabble tournaments.  For that you'll have to get the Game Time II by Excalibur.  But if you are into Scrabble you are probably on the wrong website.

Thanks for all your previous reviews. I am trying to purchase one of these clocks on line but all stores seem to be 'out of stock'. Are they that popular?! Any suggestions on where I can purchase one? Thanks.

Whenever I play in a tournament, when my opponent has the black pieces, and hence choice of clocks, he/she always wants to use my Chronos.  I have the blue one with the touch pads.

I purchased the clock several years ago, and it is still going strong.

Yes, it can be complicated to program, but most other clocks lack at least one or more of the the important features such as time delay, the ability to program 3 time controls, bonus time after a move, move counters, etc.

And yes, it did not fit the velcro straps in my chess bag.  I had to glue on an extension.

But I would NEVER go back to any other clock.  I owned two other clocks previously, and they were lacking in features, quality construction, battery life, even the quality of the box it came in.

I love it i bought it at Wholesale chess for 104.95!!!!!even though you can smash the pieces on other clocks, eventually the other clocks buttons might get stuck so I prefer chronos. The battery also lasts long some friend of mine bought one in 2003 and its battery hasn't run out yet so CHRONOS

My two cents on touch buttons -- I've used this clock extensively (though I don't own it) ... and if you are a hardcore blitz player you want the touch buttons... ... blitz clocks get hard use... I love the clickclack sound too, most everyone does, but if you want a clock you can let your friends bang on without ever having to get annoyed and scream: hey DAMMIT that's my clock EASE UP! -- then those touch buttons are a godsend.   The whole clock is built like a tank... chronos clocks are expensive... but the construction justifies it IMHO. I've never understood how to program them, though :(

Great clock, very reliable and has a lot of programmable features. (time, beep, etc.)

Still best feature is durability, as there are no parts to move or brake...
