Description:
CT-ART 3.0 is one of the most praised tactics improvement program and for a good reason. It is based on a strong theoretical foundation and training material developed by Maxim Blokh, an experienced coach and ICCF grandmaster. It is geared towards players who have already mastered basic tactics.
Organization
One of the strong points of CT-ART 3.0 is that the organization and classification of exercises serves as an outline for the training regimen by breaking it down into manageable sections and providing a framework in which tactics can be easily understood. The exercises are categorized according to the following criteria:
- Tactical methods
- Combinational motifs
- Grades of Difficulty
You can take advantage of this categorization by adjusting the selection of exercises to those areas that need the most improvement.
The Right Exercises for Your Level
The exercises vary widely in difficulty, with the easiest suitable for those rated around 1500, and the hardest able to pose a challenge to an international master. Selecting exercises that suit your level increases the likelihood that your training will be successful and that it will become a regular activity just as it needs to be.
Navigate, Browse, Practice, Test and Play!
All these different functions of CT-ART are available from the toolbar.
Navigator. The course navigator is the control center for CT-ART. It is displayed when you launch the program, but it can also be accessed from the toolbar. It is shown on the image above.
Browse. Allows you to browse diagrams of the selected exercises.
Practice. This is the default mode in CT-ART and allows you to practice before taking a test. If you dont play the best move, the program will help put you on the right track by highlighting the key aspects of the position.
Test. When you you have mastered a specific tactical theme you can test yourself using exercises appropriate for your level of ability.
Play. Anyone who has spent time studying with chess books knows what it is like when you encounter a move that doesnt look quite right or that the author has not discussed. It can be frustrating to continue without having your questions answered, and perhaps an important learning opportunity will have been missed. Well, with CT-ART you can use the built-in chess playing engine to test any ideas and answer any questions that are not dealt with directly. Playing the position against the chess engine also reinforces your understanding of the position.
Keep Track of Your Progress!
For individuals. As you progress with CT-ART and complete more tests, the program evaluates your rating changes based on your performance.
For trainers. The program can keep track of a group of students. This feature is invaluable to trainers, who can use it to compare the performance of their students.
