I am not a fan of the mousepad boards. If you have them rolled up for a while, when you actually play with it, the edges will not stay flat. Also, if you see people who have had these boards for a while, you can easily tell because the edges are frayed. These boards do not stand the test of time as well as vinyl or leather boards.

Not worth the money! Even if it goes on sale at the $1.99 store…

I disagree with the other reviewers of this item. I have used one of these boards for nearly 10 years and it is still in great shape. It is not frayed and it does not crease like the vinyl boards. Plus, you can wash it in the washing-machine to clean it (a nice plus if, like me, you often have a beverage near the chess board).

Excellent chess sets. I would highly recommend this for anyone who hates the plastic board that gets wrinkled up so easily.

It always lays flat

Difficult to slide pieces over the spongy surface. Also, the color contrast is not as bright as a vinyl roll-up.

Really like the mousepad board. Lays flat and has some heft. Also, like the fact that as a fabric it does have a heft to it unlike the vinyl rollup boards.

I like the mousepad board for club use, it is a step

above the normal vinyl boards. However they do have

a couple of drawbacks. They do fray after lengthy use

but they are still usable, plus if you stain the fabric

it usaually stays on there unlike a vinyl board. The

most glaring drawback they have is for players who

drag their pieces across the board as opposed to picking

up and setting them down. the pieces tend to not

go smoothy across the fabric well at all. A minor gripe

true, but if you are one of those players it could factor

in. I personally love the quality folding PVC chessboards

I highly recomend them!
