1ST PASCUAL CAOILE INVITATIONAL GRADE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL CHESS TEAM CUP

Grade school and high school chess teams are now gearing up to compete in the 1st Pascual Caoile Invitational Grade School and High School Chess Team Cup slated on March 5-6, 2011, at the Ateneo Grade School Cafeteria, Ateneo De Manila University.
A project of the Ateneo Grade School, High School and Collegiate Chess Teams under the guidance of IM Idelfonso Datu, this nine-round Swiss System tourney is open to all grade school and high school chess teams whose members may be made up of titled or non-titled players. This team competition is sponsored by the Ateneo Chess Teams’ Alumni Team Manager Mr. Patrick Caoile and his family.
The first of what is projected to become a major annual event, this tournament is aimed at providing a venue for chess teams not just to hone their competitive skills with others but also to foster ties among schools through their students’ similar love for the chess game.
This two-division event will employ a nine-round Swiss System tournament play with an active time control of 45 minutes per player. FIDE Laws of Chess will be employed by the tournament.
At stake are trophies for the top three teams in each division. The champion teams will also take home three digital chess clocks and six chess sets while the second and third placed teams will get two digital chess clocks and four chess sets, and one digital chess clock and two chess sets respectively. Top board medalists will also receive gold medals for their hard-earned finish.
The registration fee is set at P1,800 per team of four players with two alternates. Interested teams may email admuchesscoach@gmail.com for the invitation, registration, and a copy of the tournament mechanics. Deadline of registration is on March 4, 2011 during the Team Captains Meeting at 9 a.m.
