The 2007 Las Vegas International Chess Festival is proud to announce the participation of a living legend, World Senior Champion GM Viktor Kortchnoi, as a player in the 2007 National Open. GM Kortchnoi will also give a 25 board simul on Monday, June 11th, and will be available for autographs at specified times during the festival.

This year's festival is shaping up to be the best ever. The cornerstone 2007 National Open again features a $100,000 Prize Fund with traditional 3-day and convenient 2-day schedules. This year we have replaced the unrated section with 3 daily unrated tournaments for new players who may (or may not) wish to commit 3 full days to their first tournament.

The ever popular U.S. Game/10 Championship will be held on Thursday, June 7th, the day before the National Open, to increase attendance. For those who can't get enough chess, the National Open Blitz Championship will be held Thursday evening.

Also Thursday, the Susan Polgar Chess Camp will feature a full or half day session in small groups with GM and other fine instructors. This camp is designed for players of all ages.GM Susan Polgar, America's Chess Ambassador, is the chief instructor.

For the second year, the festival will host the Susan Polgar World Open Championship for Girls. This year the event will be open to more young women and we are proud to announce the 1st annual Susan Polgar World Chess Challenge for Boys. In addition to several Polgar side events, participants in these tournaments may also wish to participate in some of the open side events, such as the Blitz or the Scholastic Trophy Tournament.

On line registration for all events is now available.
