RULES/PROCEDURES:  Time Control:  G/30. Touch move and other standard United States Chess Federation (USCF) tournament rules will be explained briefly at the start, and will apply.  The top four scores of a school team will be used to determine the winning team.   Any student may enter and does not have to be part of a school team, but at least two students from the same school must participate to constitute a team.

NO ONE IS ELIMINATED.  ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO PLAY 4 GAMES UNLESS REQUIRED TO WITHDRAW FOR MEDICAL OR OTHER EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.

Players will receive a "Prince William Chess Rating" - as a result of their games.  This rating is not related to their USCF rating but helps ensure they play the strongest competition in these non-USCF scholastic events.   In each round students will play an opponent who has a similar record of wins/losses/draws within the section to that point in the tournament. Chess sets will be provided.

CONCESSIONS:   A ‘parent-volunteer’ food concession will provide hotdogs, pizza, nachos, and other snack food and drinks.  (Concession proceeds will be used to defray tournament costs.)

Bring your beginners to these events - they are an 'introduction' to chess tournaments for kids.

For your planning:

unconfirmed dates in April and May.  Will provide when firm info available.
