2011 September Scholastic Chess Tournament (G/30, 6-SS) 

When/Where: Saturday, September 17th,  2011 at Washington Middle School Cafeteria,

1663 South King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96826.  

Advance Registration fee:

$5 if received by Friday, September 16th , 2011.

Late registration

 

(on site): $10

 Byes

: Two half-point byes allowed if TD notified before 1st  round pairings made.

 

Time Control

 

: Game / 30 minutes (Action), 5s delay.  

USCF Rules/Tiebreaks Apply: 6 round Swiss pairing system. Not USCF rated.

Scorekeeping

: Required for 4th grade and above. Strongly recommended for 3rd  grade and younger.

NOVICE Section:

 

For beginners and new tournament players. Expect to complete tournament earlier than Open Section time schedule (see below).

 

Adult/College Section:

5-SS, No fee, No prizes. Rounds at 1030, 1130, 1330, 1430, &1530. Email gpontai@ontai.us

Four Divisions in Open Section

 

: K-3 (Primary), K-6 (Elementary), K-8 (Middle/Intermediate), and K-12 (High School). All divisions will be combined in a single section for games and pairing purposes.

 

School Teams

 

shall consist of players from the same school. Each school may enter any number of players. Player may not play on a team in a junior division. Teammates will not play each other. Schoolmates may play each other if on different team competing in a separate division although representing the same school.

 

Individual Trophies

 

to top 4 overall players and top 3 in each division.

 

School/Team Medals:

 

4 individual medals to each of the top 3 teams overall (Gold, Silver, & Bronze) in each Division.

Team score

 

will be the sum of the top four individual scores from each team.

 

Time schedule

 

9:00–9:30am: Check In and Late Registration

9:45am: Coaches & players meeting with Tournament Directors

 

10:00am: 1st Round  

10:01am: Novice Section Check In and Late Registration

 

11:05am: 2nd Round  

Lunch Break after reporting result from 2nd Round game

(NOVICE Lunch break about the same time)

 

1:00pm: 3rd Round  

2:05pm: 4th Round  

3:10pm: 5th Round

 

3:45pm: LAST NOVICE ROUND begins before 4:00 pm

4:15pm: 6th Round

5:20pm: Award Ceremony
