You'd take a dog? There'd probably be dogs on the island you could adopt one of them.
What do i do if there is no dog? There could also be women, but i prefer to be sure.

Now it all makes sense! Much better than what I was imagining. However, if you take the woman and there are only men on the island, you will need to conserve your ammo, thus I would forget about Macer.
