Dzindzi vs. Rybka

After three games, GM Dzindzi is holding his own at 1.5-1.5 vs. the Rybka engine.  He's white in all games and was given pawn odds (random black pawn was removed for each game).

I found this quote from game 2 really funny: "What we see from Rybka was trial and error with an 30 ply search. But this isn´t enough in rook endgames like this;"

Ha!  Looking 15 moves ahead isn't enough against Dzindzi in the endgame!

In endgames it´s not so weird that humans can look further ahead than 10 or 15 moves. Often there are only a few reasonable moves for both sides, so the possibilities in those 15 moves are very limited. A computer however doesn´t understand that, and on every turn it again checks whether 7 possible rook sacrifices work or not.

It would be interesting to see a Rybka vs. Anand match. Kramnik may have (just) lost to Fritz earlier, but Fritz is far from as good as Rybka. I think even Anand will get owned by Rybka.
