No they r not providing the answers and that is why I am asking
If FIDE can't stamp out cheating in otb tournaments, how on earth are they gonna do it online?
Please tell me how to become a paid member in fide online arena and ifiI become a paid member will they show it in their fide international ratings
Right now their online rating is not equivalent to having a "real" fide rating. This might change in the future (but I personally think it won't happen anytime soon; the Ivanov case showed quite clearly that it's difficult enough to catch a cheater in OTB play, and online chess can only be worse).
Thank u for ur answer
I joined FIDE Online Arena a couple weeks ago or so, but only just started playing games there today. I must admit, compared to chess.com, the interface is much better, but I think that FIDE are taking their time for the final product, because they want to make 100% certain that there are NO cheats (or anything like that). So they test the AceGuard multiple times until cheats can be caught. They seem to be doing well with that......but what if a player's internet connection dies out? That's maybe their biggest concern for now. Therefore a player loses lots of FIDE points from a totally won position because their internet had gone. But in my opinion, this would make the players rating momentarily inaccurate. You could lose 50 rating points in one game, but I still believe it's easy to get them back.
BTW, how can you lose 50 rating points in 1 game?
FIDE Online Arena is already running way behind their announced schedule. USCF once promised a similar online server and rated online tournaments, their promises dragged out for months and then years. When they finally did get something it was very poorly done, and today they have nothing. Trust me, 2 years from now FIDE won't be any closer to the realization of this then they are right now. Which is the reason that I play on Chess.com and Internet Chess Club, these are places that love and emphasize chess. I don't want membership in FIDE or USCF.
FIDE does not have individual membership, so there is no danger of anyone becoming a member.
I am playing at Fide Arena for some time now and I must say that I totally enjoy playing there. Good interface, you don't have to wait long (generally) to get a game and believe me in comparison to chess.com, number of cheaters there is minimal.
http://www.arena.myfide.net has been updated
I will not be participating in the online arena. Best plans to those who are
Well like or lump it, online play is the future, at least for those who don't consider themselves " Chess Professionals " I live in a major metropolitan city and we can't even get a hardly a dozen people to play a weekend swiss. Think about though. It takes up your whole weekend, plus driving there etc. Someone kid beside has a cold and is blowing snot eveywhere..
One major problem of Fide Arena is that you can only get a Fide rating if you play against other players that have a Fide rating. Well there aren't many....and they rarely accept challenges from players without a fide rating which makes it very hard to get an official rating.
The interface is like that of ICC so I guess it's better than the one we have here. There seems to be fewer cheaters but only because there are fewer players playing and they are under the impression that they are monitored. However only the official Fide rated games are monitored.
They also have two different arenas to choose from. Premiumchess and Fide but upto this point I never cared to find the difference between the two.
I would be interested in finding out from people who have played on both "FIDE Arena" and "Chess.com" how your ratings compare.
why doesnt chess.com and arena make a joined rating system, coz i was looking at it in arena it is more linked to you where as in .com u can hv 4 accounts
How many accounts do you have?
I hope i see online ratings in my fide profile. Playing strength of people doesnt differ much from OTB. But there are some issues. I played against a 1700 who were playing like 1700 until endgame. It was B+P+K vs Q+K and my pawn was on 7th rank. It was 3+2 game and we both have around 2 minutes so there wasnt a time-trouble. Then he just moved fast and and leaved his queen en-prise. Players definetely play more casual than OTB.
