Hey TadDude, are they talking about brain stimulating drugs? I am just curious because I'm on pain medication that actually has brain stimulation as one of it's side effects. I am on it for servere joint damage due to radiation treatment for cancer a while back. Of course, I am not worried about being banned from anything but simply curious. Do you know more about the subject since the article was so short? Thanks for the post. Iwasnt sure if it was real or not since I am always the last person to get the joke!!

No drugs involved. The sanction is for refusing to be tested.

Appears to be a legitimate story.

Nearly happened to Ivanchuk recently when he stormed off after a loss and missed a drugs test. I think FIDE were trying to bring chess more in line with the stringent testing regimes seen in athletics and physical sports, perhaps as a way of being included in the Olympics.

Well said Reb, my feelings exactly, if any other Sports governing body exercised the way fide have done there would be outrage, it's embarrassing for chess.

I just wonder who the hell came up with doing out of event tests on amateurs? No matter the sport that seems a bit overdone.

"Hi, you don't know us, but we have to stick a needle in you.", yeah right, wait a sec, I need to fetch my baseballbat.

The source website seems to be reasonably reputable, and it's also quite a bizarre and niche topic for a news site to be joking about.

Chess in the Olympics is stupid.

    What's next?

    Scrabble in the Olympics?

Yatzee? Poker? Get a life people....

Nobody even watches the Olympics anymore.

If ever there's a semblance of truth here in performance enhancing drugs, I bet medical students preparing for their board exams had this on top of their must-have list!
