Here is a news article about a huge chess simul being held in honor of the heroic guerilla Ernesto Guevara:

The simul will be played on 1,500 boards(!) by numerous IM and GM players against local students.

GreenLaser wrote: You wrote "heroic." There are players of chess living in Florida because of such "heroics" as murder, torture, and lying about being a doctor. This "hero" begged for his life claiming he was worth more as a celebrity than a dead criminal.

He was heroic to those who suffered under the Batista dictatorship, so I think that it is a valid statement.  As for his last statement, you have to figure that the only ones who were to hear it were his Bolivian executioners.  I wouldn't expect much objectivity from that lot.

But yes, he prosecuted the executions at La Cabana of many men associated with Batista's government.  (Nearly over 500 executions) It was brutal.  They were not given fair trial.  But I wonder though why no one ever brings up the fact that Batista's dictatorship was even more brutal and cruel to its citizens?

Folks, we are close to the no-no zone of politics!

I hope we will have an official Live Chess application up an running pretty soon. It would be ultra cool if chess.com could stage huge online simuls.

How is it that US anti-communist propaganda from a national master from New York is not "political", while an anti-Iraq war blog written by a redneck in Idaho is blocked for being too political.

Okay, I'm just trying to ruffle a few feathers. Please keep the CIA out of my house...

Oh, and Che was a qualified doctor, GreenLaser. And, of course, Batista's pro-US ties make him holier than Jesus.

I also have a problem with the term "heroic" being applied to Che.
