The Jewel Royale (Chess Set) Company Ltd. in association with Boodles is designing its top-secret chess set which will possibly be the most expensive chess set in the world.

Below is the Black Queen constructed out of over 165.2 grams of 18-carat gold.  The piece is hand made and is set with 748 diamonds, 146 sapphires, and 73 rubies.

When completed, the estimated value of the chess set will be $10,000,000!!

Black King

I'd rather have the rye bread chess set.  This one just seems destined to be owned by an oil tycoon's 8yo. Foot in mouth  Nice find though.

Haha!!!  That chess set would get you 1/2 a year of a Yankee pitcher, right?  Now that you put it that way, the chess set sounds like a bargain!

If you've got $10,000,000, please invest it wisely.

While I will agree that I would not buy such a set or anything, I will also agree that it's quite lovely!

i love the photoshopped bling on that second photo. it's like the dirrrty souf.

(and hey, don't be hatin' on people who buy expensive chess sets even though they can't play...there's something to be said for the beauty and sheer artistry of the sculpture that, yes, even non-chess-playing non-snobs can appreciate.)

Awsome! Good idea too. A truely one of a kind set that someone who has serious coin is going to snap up in a hurry.

Wish it was me....

here   is a link to some photos (look like mock ups) of the rest of the pieces.  Quite extra ordinary.  Personally not such a fan of the king.  Rooks are my fave.  The pawns each have a pearl on top.  Black pearls for the golden (black) pawns.
