I would also like to participate in a chess tournament, but unfortunately I can't. They are usually organized for people who have an official rating and I am an amateur. That's why I am looking forward to playing with other people on this site.

I dont compete anymore, just costs too much now, the only real tournement i can go to is the Chicago Open and thats 250 bucks which is 300 more than i have plus i have to renew my membership which also sucks.

I just returned from Gmunden Austria where the world seniors championships were held for both men and women. I played in the Traunsee Open while there which was a parallel open event being run during the world championships. My next otb classic tourney will be a 9 r swiss Open in Figueira de Foz Portugal the end of this month. Chess in Europe is so much better than in the US for various reasons, sad but true.

My brother is coming down this week and we're going to go play in the Exchange Bank Fall Classic. I'm still trying to talk Erik into going with us. :)

Also, I'm curiuos, where do most of you go to find tournaments or clubs in your area? Is Chess.com becoming a useful resource for such things?

hi... im going to play in a tournament on 4 november. its an amateur game. never have any rating before.. the last tournament i join in, i got the last place with an 0 point... bwahahaha... its 6 round with 25minute per game.
but i love it ... just love the game.. didnt mind losing. love meting people and chess dweeb like me. i hope ill be better in chess. thanks for this site love u guys :)
