These are awesome. If you've seen a unique chess set that's not in this article then please share here!
For consideration: Straight Up Chess
Cool or Not: http://www.straightupchess.com/
Wow, not only is that innovative and beautiful, but it's so practical as well! Brilliant! I seriously want to get one someday!
Oh so very cool. Saw one posted in another thread. Definetly something I want. Thx for the link!
These are all great...and I am currently on the market for one for display purposes only...
That is one seriously sick collection. Is the guy starting a museum? There is some absolutely incredible eye candy in there. Thx!
I was going to mention his collection, thanks Reb:
If anyone wants to know more about Jon Crumiller, and his draw against Carlsen, please take a couple of minutes to read this topic: and drop some comments :)
I'm kind of partial to the sets I picked up in Mexico recently:
Is there any info on how to get the LED chess set? I'm also into electronics and think that would be a neat set to have.
What a motley collection of awful sets!
Plastic. Staunton. Triple-weighted. Rollup board. Nothing is cooler.
Fail at cool.
This claims to be the most expensive chess set in the world. http://www.chessville.com/misc/jewelroyale.htm
Here are some more affordable themed sets.
What a great idea. Thanks for the link.
You are so not invited to my coffee house with your Star Wars commemorative set.
lol...............My Star Wars commerative set is safely encased in carbonite, awaiting the dietification of all things StarWars. I did recently receive a set of Shot Glass peices. Dying to try those out.
I ussually make my own boards and pieces but you have given me some ideas on making my own pieces, Thanks
Below is an example of boards I hand make. All out of Australian Hardwoods
I also have a Limited edition Load of the rings set. This one mainly for show. It weighs about 8kg and the board is about 500mm square.
I dislike the most expensive chess set ever. They incorrectly have the Q larger than the K. And the Knights are unicorns. What are we, five?
The King is bigger, they just made it look a little like a queen. But I have to agree with you on the unicorns. The rest of the set is this cool twisted design, and the unicorns look completely out of place.
lol...............My Star Wars commerative set is safely encased in carbonite, awaiting the dietification of all things StarWars. ...
Is that the Star Wars equivalent of heat death of the universe? Are we all going to slim down to nothingness?
LOL.............Your asking me? I have no idea what that word means, whatsoever. Nothing unusual. I tend to make it up as I go anyways. ;)
Most of the "cool chess sets" kinda remind of the old gag about modern art consisiting of some nimrod throwing paint at a canvas (kinda like Jackson Pollock but I think he threw his paint on the floor) Personally I like fancy staunton sets:
Here are some more theme chess sets for anyone into this stuff
