Autographed copy

Just wanted to relate a bit of good luck I had over the weekend.

While browsing the chess equipment at the Il open this weekend I ran across an autographed copy of Jeremy Silman's "Reassess Your Chess". And at 20% off list price including tax I thought it was a nice bargain. While the autograph may not help improve my chess I was pleasently surprised none the less. Laughing

Yea that was a great find, even if you can't use the book it is a great peice of chess cluture to have. And what's with the Star Wars quote if you don't mind me asking.

Just my commentary on the state of impolite discourse so often found on the internet these days.

"The trouble is, you only see things in black and white."

"Sometimes that's the way things are!"

That was in a Calvin and Hobbes sunday strip after Bill Watterson had yet another debate about why he wouldn't okay any Calvin and Hobbes merchandise.  The first quote is from Calvin's dad, and the response is from Calvin.

This has nothing to do with what you're discussing.  I just had to give an "absolutes" quote, and didn't feel the need to quote great literature since, well, you're quoting Star Wars (fine with me! I quote Star Wars when it's not even relevant!)

Ah but is a "truth" or relevent thought any less true or relevent because it is from a source considered less than "great"?

Of course not; however, there is often a false sense of sophistication if one quotes from 1984 instead of Calvin and Hobbes or Star Wars.
