What are the best books for beginners? I've heard the one by Bobby Fisher is really good, though I can't remember the name of it. Anyone know the name of that book or have any other suggestions?

You might be thinking of "Bobby Fisher Teaches Chess".

There is an unbelievable number of books for beginners. I've read and enjoyed "Play Winning Chess" by Yasser Seirawan and "Chess for Dummies". It all depends on your preferred style of writing/teaching.

A search in this forum will show you lots of other suggestions.

If you are indeed referring to "Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess" (which is not actually penned by Fischer) it's complete trash in my opinion

Jeremy Silmans books should suit your purpose better.

"The Amateurs Mind", "How to Reassess Your Chess", "Silmans Complete Endgame Course" etc.

If you google for a while you can find a book by Capablanca, which is public domain. The name escapes me at the moment, but i rather enjoyed it.

Yes, it was "Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess." Interesting to hear that he did not write it. Thanks for the suggestions.
