Can't change engine in Fritz12 Rated Game

Sort:

Hi. when i change engine in fritz12 GUI, then when i play rated game, the engine loaded is still fritz12. rated wont change engine no matter what engine i load in normal mode. it was not like this in fritz11. is this already fixed in fritz 13? any of you noticed this?

i mean; before starting a rated game. if you have fritz12, try it, change engine, example, change your engine to stockfish, and play a rated game, and you will see the stockfish is not loaded. instead, fritz12 engine is automatically loaded. it was not like this in fritz 11

Ah, man, if you're talking about rated games on Chess.com that's against the rules, big time.

It is a rated game against an engine you finish and then only you can change engine

yes. but i mean; before starting a rated game. if you have fritz12, try it, change engine, example, change your engine to stockfish, and play a rated game, and you will see the stockfish is not loaded. instead, fritz12 engine is automatically loaded. it was not like this in fritz 11.

Using Fritz 12, I just played a rated game against Houdini, so there must be something wrong with your settings or program or something.

Why do you guys not use Arena? You can install uci and winboard engines in it.

MrEdCollins

Well, I don't use Arena because I've never been a fan of that program.  (That's putting it mildly.)  Scid vs. PC, WinBoard, and both the Shredder and Fritz interfaces are much, much better, in my opinion.

I use Fritz 13 and use Houdini 1.5a from time to time.  Changing it is easy.  Click on the engine in the bottom right window and pick the engine of your choice that you have loaded where Fritz can find it.  This should be self-evident, so perhaps your Stockfish engine is not properly installed or in the wrong directory?

Look at C:\Program Files\ChessBase\Engines.UCI
and C:\Users\(yourname)\AppData\Roaming\ChessBase\Engines.UCI\
try moving all *.uci files from those folders to another place and then reinstalling and loading your uci engines.
