    Hi!

Why its not possible to buy chess books as *.pgn with all annotations?

I mean for example like this:

    http://www.schwachspieler.de/EBuecher/Tarrasch_Das_Schachspiel/game.htm

It would be more easier to study the book if you can play all games and examples.

    Regards

Chessbase, chesspublishing and Sahovski sell annotated games in pgn or cbh format if that is what you are looking for.

But no books for teaching chess. No Silman, Heisman etc.

Andrew Martin annotates for chesspublishing, and has also done Fritztrainer videos.  If you don't mind video, there are probably a lot of annotated games in that format, eg. FM Liu, IM Pruess and IM Rensch on chess.com, or Daniel King or Jacob Aagaard on FritzTrainer.

"LOGICAL CHESS" MOVE BY MOVE.  EVERY MOVE EXPLAINED.

WRITTEN BY IRVING CHERNEV WHO IS KNOWN AS ONE OF THE MOST PROLIFIC AND HIGHLY REGARDED WRITERS ON CHESS.

I BOUGHT THE BOOK AND LOOK AT IT(?) AND READ A FEW PARAGRAPHS WITH MY CHESS BOARD AND PIECES IN PLACE, READY TO MOVE TO TRY AND FOLLOW THE INFORMATION PROVIDED.  BUT, SORRY TO HAVE TO SAY THAT MY AGEING BRAIN, FINDS DIFFICULTY IN FOLLOWING THE ADVICE PROVIDED.

HOWEVER IF FEEL SURE THAT THE SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDED ACTIONS, WILL BE OF HELP TO ANYONE,INCLUDING MYSELF.

Take a look at some dvd's, sit back and relax while a master teaches you!

I'm currently reading Better Chess for Average Players and I was using a chessboard to follow the moves listed in the book, but I recently bought Chessmaster XI which I use to follow the moves either by typing in the PGN or making the moves in two player mode.  It's not perfect, but it works.

Of course, Chessmaster also has chess tutorials which I plan to follow after I'm done with the book.

I think its the biggest problem that you find so much different stuff for training/learning chess.  Frown

I guess that's why you have to choose a method for training & learning.

www.gambitchess.com but you have to enter a book so they can give you a code to unlock their books. Its just the raw scores and positions though but helpful when you study.

For someone u1200 i would STRONLY recommend logical chess move by  move- Chernev and read it until the core ideas are something you say in your sleep (control the center, develop, dont pawn grab, castle)

TACTICS TACTICS TACTICS. do the tactics trainer here until your fingers bleed. quantity is key! I am playing correspondence and its SHOCKING the number of simple tactical oversights people make even with days to examine options.

do not play 1 min but play 3-5 min games these help tactical awareness..

    15 min games too.

review them with a stronger player! (300-500 points stronger than you are is a good place to start)

pay for 1 year membership at www.chess.com and use the tactical trainer and go through the videos and strategy program they have here. those alone are worth the 4 books you could purchase online

Tactic trainer and puzzles are great for middlegame and some endgame training.  A platinum or diamond membership on Chess.com is well woth the investment.

I have my method since 1 year, but its boring to learn always with the same software.

Why I am rated so low? Family, 2 children, job. Born for 48 years, but for 1½ years I was beginning with chess.

Same here.  Jobs & family sure can get in the way of playing chess.  I, too, am getting started late in life on learning how to play well.  I learned as a kid about 30 years ago, but never had anyone to play chess with.  So I never really developed an idea of how to play, which is why I'm studying a couple of books and going through the courses in Chessmaster XI.
