Ebay Auctions? (HOS)

So I have been researching on here and have heard a number of people say to watch Ebay for quality sets from places like House of Staunton.

I have a few questions for those who know or have experience with these retailers on Ebay...

-Say they (HOS) has a luxary set on Ebay, with a specific name, like all their sets are named, but this set is not on their normal retail site...I am wondering do they only sell certain sets on Ebay, which then makes it hard to tell what type of "deal" you are getting...

-I have also read some reviews about cautioning buying on Ebay because you may be getting their sub-par merchandise...

Any thoughts?

Yes, HoS occasionally has Ebay exclusive sales.

I have bought sets directly from HoS on ebay and did not notice any sub-par quality.

Its probably chess sets that are not moving in sales. The quality should be good IMO. You won't see their HOT sets listed as they don't have trouble moving them.

As an avid watcher of HOS on ebay for the past 2 years I have seen them put each and every one of there sets on ebay. Frank is correct in saying they put ebay exclusive sets up. These are probably short run sets or sets they find while cleaning out their inventory. They used to update their list only once a week but lately it can be updated every couple of days so keep your eyes peeled. I have purchased a couple of the ebay listings and the quality was superb :)
