I think even deep fritz 11 isn't out yet. It won't have any chance against Rybka 3 which is coming out in a few days anyway. I wonder why would anyone choose to buy the much weaker engine.

Rybka tends to be overly optimistic about positions.  I think that Rybka and Fritz combined are awesome!  Even if Rybka is number 1 today, it might not be tomorrow.

Are there any noticeable improvements?

Does it play better at fast time controls?

Does it analyze games better?

Has the interface been improved?

Is the game database bigger or improved?

Those are the main things I'd want before buying a new version (I'm still using Fritz 8).

Fritz 12 has not been released yet, Deep Fritz 11 has been released ad finally... Rybka is by far the best programme. Although for Endgames alone, I'd probably choose Deep Shredder.

I have no chance against Fritz 7, why Fritz 12?

Scid 4.0 is for free and very good.

I like Fritz software just because it has a very nice and friendly interface. The fact that Fritz might be weaker/stronger than Rybka I think it doesn't have an influence at amateur level. Of course if you're a GM or SuperGM there are a lot of considerations to take before buying one of them, but I think that even Fritz 5.32 would be more than enough for 85% of all of us.

That's why I don't fancy very much Rybka, at least its Aquarius version. Maybe I'm too used to Fritz interface... Laughing
