Does anyone know when or what will be involved with Fritz 12. Will there be a Fritz 12?

Of course there will be. But with Chessbase's recent endorsement of Rybka, I don't know exactly how many more versions.

I mostly skip one or two versions of Fritz because I find that the improvements between two versions are not impressive. After Fritz 8 I bought Fritz 10. 9 was almost the same as 8. And I must say that I could better have skipped 10 as well.

So think twice before spending your money on a new version.

Agreed! You might find great value buying the previous version when the new version is launched.

Sharsan: we aren't talking about cheating with it.

I think Fritz is great, and better than Rybka.  I've got Fritz 11, and no other versions.  Although I have got the Fritz 6 engine.  Fritz 11 is much, much stronger.  I don't know about the software though.

Of course, there will be a Fritz 12.  I don't know when, but it can't be far off...

 It's like Madden 09 lol I'd rather play 2005...

But I'd be no help with the topic at hand... :P

I bought Fritz 6 about 8? years ago. Now I have bought the chessbase (deep) Rybka version and I must say I think the interface and program extras (search engine for games, analysis function etc.) are still the same 8 years later!!! I am very glad I havnt upgraded inbetween. Since Rybka 3.3 something is the best engine ever i think it will take me now 10 years to upgrade again.

Steve Lopez the ChessBase columnist just posted a video on the new Fritz 12 at ChessCentral. It shows the new menu options and a bunch of the new analysis features. Looks like a great addition to my collection. ChessCentral says they will be shipping on the 12th so I will have mine on the 14th. Kinda excited. I love new toys.
